Green Rider Program
Jul 03, 2008

About the Green Rider Program

The purpose of the green program is to provide beginning riders the opportunity to become acquainted with the basic reined cow horse skills in a competitive, yet non-threatening environment. There are no restrictions placed upon horse ownership, breed, age, or training level. Once the program is completed riders should have developed the skills necessary to be a competent NRCHA exhibitor.

Points towards graduations from the program are accrued by subtracting 120 from the total score (reined and cow work) of each class the rider shows in. Once 100 points are accumulated the rider will receive a certificate of completion and move up to green 2. A green 2 rider may show a novice non pro or non pro class. Once a rider has accumulated 200 points (green and sanctioned classes) they will graduate from the green program and receive a green program trophy buckle. A Non-Pro may continue to show in the green 2 class for the remainder of the calendar year in which they earn their 200 points.
